Cool. With it. The bomb. Or is that bummer...?

Meet Ignatius. The new age guru of gab, stagecraft, image, and slick sales...but what is he selling—and to kids? Com‘on!

The videographer comments:

This is a video we produced for a free event for youth ministers. It was conceived as a satire for what I consider to be an unhealthy "rock star" culture that has been growing inside Christendom, as well as an encouragement for the unheralded heroes on the front lines of ministry. Shot by Taylor Robinson and George Wiley, with video post by Jason Poole and audio by Eric Chapman and Nate Dregger. The role of Ignatius is played by our friend Josh Keefer.

So what do you think?

So this is what it means to be free—? That was the question asked by many people—young and old, teens included—in the former Soviet Union after the fall of Communism. They faced having to make their own way in life, providing for themselves what the government formerly handed them. Other people in different circumstances ask the same question, teens especially.

So what is freedom really? And is it really "off the hook," as advocates of doing "my thing" say; or is it rather a "bummer," as too many teens find out when the down side of street life dawns one day like a freezing, windy rain?

So What does it mean to be free anyway?

The NEWSBOYS describe it in a surprisingly different way:

But where is the party here? In this video, I mean—could someone have brought to this kid another kind of party? See what you think. Then watch the NEWSBOYS in the prior post... This is from CASTING CROWNS. By the way, I believe in parties.

Is there a lesson to be learned here? In these videos taken together, I mean? If so, what is it? Is there something we can, or should, do? You tell me.... Post a comment?

Such times go right along with prayer, praise, worship and God's word as a vital part of Christian fellowship. May all kids, young and old, learn this now and take it with them through life.

Who is it that said, "We bring the party with us?" In fact, I think it is the Newsboys who sing it!

So can we put this practice? Even if life is not one "great big party," it is not for good reason: because then we woudn't know what a party really is. Like a lot of things, the party would get so boring really soon that we wouldn't ever want another one! The fact that the parties are spread out a little, separated by time and space is what makes them so enjoyable....so party on! But with good sense and spiritual purpose. Then you can be sure that God will be right there with you!
